Operation:
1. Insert the 9v battery into RPM-One.
2. Connect the RPM-One plug to the tractor.
- RPM-One will start automatically when it detects that a sensor is connected.
3. Check that the battery level LED is green.
- This indicates that the battery is OK.
4. When the engine is started.
- The yellow LED will blink every time a pulse is received from the sensor.
(2 times per revolution).
5. Hold down the MEAS button.
6. Run the tractor at full throttle for 4-5 seconds.
7. Release the MEAS button and hold down the MEM button.
- The maximum RPM measured over the last 4-5 seconds will now be displayed.
Troubleshooting Tips:
No light in the green LED:
This can be due to the following:
1. Check that all 3 wires are correctly connected in the 3-pin plug on the tractor.
2. The sensor cable is defective.
3. The sensor is defective.
The yellow LED does not flash when the engine is started:
This can be due to the following:
1. The sensor distance is too wide.
- Test this by holding a piece of metal in front of the sensor.
- If the yellow LED lights up, adjust the sensor distance.
2. Check if all 3 wires are connected in the 3-pin plug on the tractor.
3. The sensor cable is defective.
4. The sensor is defective.
Red light in the battery level LED:
- The battery needs to be replaced.
RPM-One only measures half the RPM:
- This may be because only 1 of the 2 pulses per revolution is being detected.
- Adjust the sensor distance.
RPM-One counts instead of measuring RPM:
- This is because REV is displayed instead of RPM.
- Change this by pressing the MEAS button and then pressing the MODE button.
Note: Battery life is approximately 2 hours when RPM-One is connected to the tractor.
Note: The yellow tachometer included in the RPM-One kit is not standard but is modified with new software. This is done to increase the number of measurements per second to provide ultra-precise measurements. Therefore, a standard tachometer cannot be used for the system.
